Dear Friends,

We hope you and your family are doing well, are healthy and are staying positive in these trying times. As this most challenging of years comes to an end, we would like to wish you all the very best this Holiday Season and in the New Year. We would also like to tell you about what we’ve been up to and what we have lined up for 2021.

Coding Camps

We spent the first quarter of 2020 planning to expand our coding camp to a second rural community, Oro, in Kwara State, Nigeria. We were ready to kickoff the classes in April, but, of course, the world changed in mid-March. Students in both of the communities we serve would be out of school for the next six months, with little access to the virtual learning programs we’ve now become accustomed to in the West. We will be kicking off this new coding camp in Q1 2021 and also reopening our weekly camps in Omu-Aran. We expect to have up to 200 high school students attending both camps.

Scholars Program

This week, we selected 50 new SS1 [10th Grade] students to join our Scholars Program. They will receive scholarships, participate in our coding programs, and receive other ongoing support over the next three years. This brings the total number of students in our Scholars Program to 130.

Annual Outreach

Due to the pandemic, we had to cancel our annual outreach program in September. We plan to be back at it in late 2021. In lieu of our in-person outreach this year, we’ve been discussing with stakeholders on the ground how best to continue to serve our target communities.

New Initiatives

We are always looking for more ways to help more people in the communities we serve. Next up, we would like to pilot a school lunch program for elementary school kids in the public school system. We are also looking to increase our test prep services for the high school students we currently work with. Thank you for your generosity and support, without which we couldn’t do what we do. To learn more about our programs and our organization, please visit our website and sign up for our newsletter. And, please consider making a year-end donation to help fund our programs.
Thank you for your support.
