Dear Friends,
Meet our new interns, Jacob Mentz and Jessica Onken!
Jacob Mentz is a senior Economics major at the University of Northern Iowa. While at Northern Iowa, he has had the opportunity to lead the Ski and Snowboard Club, become a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon (a sales and marketing organization) , as well as a player on the ultimate frisbee team. His past experiences working in Nicaragua and Cedar Rapids for nonprofits bring transferable ideas and foundations to Community Based Development Partners. His goals while interning include setting up permanent fundraising platforms, brainstorming ways CBDP can strategize creatively, and to write solid content for the website. Upon graduation, he would like to find a full-time position in consulting or sales while still finding a way to get involved with nonprofits.
Jessica Onken is currently a sophomore attending the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Marketing with an emphasis in Advertising and Digital Media. She is also the director of member recruitment and engagement for the university’s Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Jessica is passionate about growing the nonprofit sector’s impact on the world through marketing. In her free time, she enjoys graphic design, photography, volunteering at her local animal shelter and ceramics. Upon graduation, she hopes to land a job as a marketing specialist, where she will create marketing campaigns for a national nonprofit organization.
We are very excited to have Jacob and Jessica join us. They have been getting up to speed over the past month and have brought a lot of positive energy and great ideas to our team. If you follow us on social media, you might have already seen some of their work on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. They are working on other initiatives as well that we will inform you about in due course.
